EDMONTON SOCIAL PLANNING COUNCIL ANNUAL REPORT
This is an excerpt from the 2019 annual report I designed for the Edmonton Social Planning Council. I designed the 2017, 2018, and 2019 annual reports, working within the guidlines and specifications given to me by the council. while also being given the opportunity to incorporate my own concepts and creative decisions. Being so unlike my work with invitations and logos, designing something like this allos for the opportunity to deomnstrate that my design skills also translate to something more longform and challenging such as this. Several different design elements came into play here, mixing both format and typographical problems with more artistic elements. Several infographics and original illustrations were utilized within this project as well.
2023 WEDDING INVITATIONS
These are save the date and wedding invitations that I designed for a client in 2023. Because they are for the same client for the same event, similar elements were included in both to ensure that these were to be recieved as a set. These invitations allow me to showcase my layout and design abilities. I worked closely with the client to ensure that we arrived at a design that they would be happy with.
CUSTOM BLU-RAY SLIPCOVER PRINTS
These are mock ups of custom Blu Ray slipcovers that I sell as digital downloads on my personal storefront rottendaydesigns.com. As portfolio pieces, these covers allow me the opportunity to demonstrate both my creative and design skills equally. The covers are visually engaging and interesting as artworks while also utilizing typography, grids, and design elements to create a cohesive and visually pleasing final product. It is interesting creating something artistic while being tasked to work within the preestablished framework of a Blu Ray cover.
ROTTEN DAY DESIGNS ART PRINTS
These are a few of the prints that I sell on my personal storefront rottendaydesigns.com. These allow me the opportunity to demonstrate my creative skills as well as my technical abilities with the adobe software, mainly Illustrator and Photoshop. They also allow me to demonstrate my understanding of design principles in how they are composed and coloured.
MOCK MAGAZINE SPREAD
The jobs that I tend to be hired for on a freelance bases typically do not require the sort of typographical gridwork found within a magazine spread. Therefore, I’ve included a mock-up of a potential spread to demonstrate my proficiancy as well as interest in this sort of design. This work opporates as a showcase of my ability to work within InDesign and Photoshop to create readable, visually interesting layouts for print media.
2022 WEDDING INVITATIONS
These wedding invitations were designed for a client as a part of several print invitations that they sent out. This included several back and forths with the client, both digitally and over the phone, to help ensure that they recieved a design that they were happy with. They wanted to create something classic and formal that would work as a double side postcard print.
ICONOGRAPHY DESIGNS
These are several small designs created as either an exercise or to be used on my personal storefront. These allow me to demonstrate my technical abilities as well as my creativity. Similar to logo work, these images have to be visually striking or clever within a finite area. Because of thier simplicity, the central idea must be communicated while working with less materials as you would with a full size print.
